The True story of Easter - He is Risenwriten by Richard N. Thomas January 25, 2008There are four main pillars supporting the Christian faith:2. The deity of Jesus Christ 3. The death of Jesus Christ 4. The resurrection of Jesus Christ Remove or destroy just one of these pillars and the whole institution of Christianity crumbles. The blood of our Christian forebears spilled over a period of nearly 20 centuries bear witness to the opposition of the above mentioned pillars. Many have died while attempting to discredit the validity of Scripture. But the Word of God cannot bend or break regardless of the efforts of ungodly folk. The apostle John was boiled in oil and sentenced to die a slow death on the island of Patmos for declaring that Jesus Christ was the Word of God made flesh. [John 1:14] The deity of Jesus Christ is as much a fact as His death. The deity of Jesus Christ is a hard pill to swallow for those who think too small. My long and dearly departed pastor - Linden Heath use to say, "God is everywhere because He is somewhere. If He wasn't somewhere, He wouldn't be anywhere." Why is it difficult to accept that God is everywhere at the same time? Is it too hard to imagine His Word entering our world through a manger in Bethlehem? The ancestry mentioned in the Gospel of Matthew and Luke trace Joseph and Mary's family tree. "In the fullness of time God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, to redeem those under the Law." [Galatians 4:4] This brief article is not intended to prove anything. It is simply stating the facts of Scripture. "Faith comes by hearing and obeying the Word of God."[Romans 10:17] Even non-Christian historians such as Josephus, the first century Jewish historian, record the death of Jesus Christ as an undeniable fact. The prophet Isaiah, seeing through the eyes of God, the Lamb of God that would take away the sin of the world; recorded the event 700 years earlier. [Isaiah 53:1-6] Moses even wrote about the Prophet that would come into the world. [Deuteronomy 18:18] The apostle John records the verbal confrontation between Caiaphas and the Word of God that became flesh. Jesus states that the very words He spoke were actually His Father speaking through Him. And that He was the fulfillment of Deuteronomy 18:18. Jesus really pet the cat in the wrong direction when he declared that since the Jewish religious leaders didn't believe what Moses wrote, how could they believe what He said "...because he wrote about Me." [John chapter 5] The final pillar would seem to be the simplest to extract. However, for nearly 2000 years nobody has been able to produce a body. Famous people have died, or presumed to be dead throughout history without leaving a trace. And someone, whomever that would be, could even claim with much dispute that these individuals rose from the dead. Authorities are still looking for the body of Jimmy Hoffa, Ameilia Earhart; and to this day, nobody has found the body of Moses. The difference being, Jesus appeared to over 500 people over a period of 40 days after his death, burial and resurrection. The evidence is overwhelming. You must decide for yourself. Nobody can make that decision for you. The only thing holding you back is unbelief. Unbelief will keep you out of the promised land. They that come to God must believe that He is the rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. God spoke through Isaiah 45:22 "...Come to me and be saved..." Jesus still speaks to us through Matthew 11:28 "...Come to me..." John the aspostle writes; "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." [John 1:9] God's voice calls out to all the world through the lips of His missionaries. Today, if you hear His voice, if you are seeking hope for a new life, it all begins with Jesus.
